Figure 1: Home. 1995. Hand-dyed and screen-printed linen with appliqué, 48 x 60 inches

Where were you at as an artist when you made this work?

The work entitled "HOME" was part of a large body of work I did at ACAD in 1995 for my diploma. It subsequently was exhibited in two public galleries in British Columbia and was included in the Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art 1998.

What would you like viewers to know about your current work?

My current art practice is a multi-disciplinary one that balances my need to address global issues such as climate change, for exhibition in public galleries, while also producing works that are more conducive to a commercial gallery.

What were your dreams in founding the society?

My reason for founding the society was to facilitate the formation of an art-based community for artists in all media that would provide a supportive and creative working environment

Did you ever think it would last this long?

I'm delighted that the society has lasted this long.

If you were blowing out the sixteen candles on the society's birthday cake, what would you be wishing for?

My wish would be that it continue to grow and inspire creativity, and be a vital part of Calgary's art scene

What advice would you give artists just emerging from ACAD today?

The best advice that I could give an emerging artist is to take advantage of the artist residencies offered in Alberta, in other provinces and other countries, and engage with artists from a broad spectrum as much as possible.
